Whole House Water Filtration Systems

Whole house water filtration systems mediate between the water source and various distribution points of use throughout the house (ex. faucets, shower, appliances, etc). Typically units will be installed in the basement, at a point of flow between the water tank and dispersion points in the plumbing system. In this way, water is filtered centrally before being distributed to points of use.

In addition to minerals and other compounds, water can be tainted with undesirable waterborne microbiology including giardia, e-coli, cryptosporidium, and other bacteria. UV light water purification systems subject microorganisms to intense ultra violet light, killing bacteria through germicidal irradiation.

UV light purification achieves its effect by passing infected water through a cylinder containing the UV light source. Intense ultra violet light disables cellular functions that allow microorganisms to thrive and reproduce. An absolutely critical component to the success of this process occurs before the water ever enters the UV light cylinder. We always install a pre-treatment filter to remove particulates from the water, allowing the UV light to penetrate unobstructed throughout the infected water in order maximize light exposure to microbiological targets.
